The Lord Leycester Hospital (often known simply as the Lord Leycester) is one of the best preserved examples of medieval courtyard architecture in England and is a charity supporting ex-servicemen. It is located in Warwick, England, next to the West Gate, on High Street. It is a Grade I listed building. The Hospital is a prominent and internationally famous feature of Warwick. For almost 900 years buildings have been erected and civic activity has taken place on the site, starting with the chapel built in 1126. The site was donated by the 12th Earl of Warwick in the 14th century to the United Guild of the Holy Trinity and St George. The Guild Hall, Great Hall and Master's House were constructed in the late 15th century. Over the centuries, the ancient buildings and 500 year old gardens have been admired by many famous visitors such as Charles Dickens and Oscar Wilde, by Kings and Queens, such as King George V and the Queen Mother and ordinary travellers from around the world.

  • Beautiful building. Easy to find. Not sure if you can go inside but certainly worthy of a few photos!

  • Wonderful place to visit. Looking forward to visiting again after the major refurbishment. Brilliant cafe/restaurant - one of the best.
  • You can have 2 pounds discount if you show a leaflet to the ticket office (you can get it in the tourist information center, very close to the hospital). The building itself (with old church) is very beautiful. If you really love old structure built hundreds of years ago, this is an ideal place for you. However, even if the hospital looks like very big, they only open several old rooms to the visitors. When you finish your visit in those old rooms, following the guide map, you can also see the old church and back gardens. The garden is more beautiful and lively in Spring. Although the overall exhibition is not as much as I think [a little bit disappointed], it is still a good place to be visited. After finishing the visiting in Warwick castle and if you still have enough time, you can spend 1-2 hours here.
