Over 70 iconic aircraft are displayed at Royal Air Force Museum Midlands, dedicated to the history of aviation and the Royal Air Force. The museum uses two sites (the other one is in London) to introduce visitors of all ages to internationally important aircraft, housed at this location inside three large hangars. Don’t miss a rare chance to see the world’s oldest Spitfire, part of an extensive Warplanes Collection. The museum also includes the National Cold War Exhibition, opened in 2007 to showcase V bombers and other aircraft used during the Cold War era. The exhibition uses "silo theaters" and a variety of media to depict the key events of those years. The museum also offers special birthday party packages, with private rooms available for rent. • The planes are great, and the activities are awesome (especially the 4D experience). The best thing about this place though is the staff. They're welcoming, helpful, insightful and friendly. They have good information and seem to really enjoy being there and love their jobs. This made the trip that much more special. You should go and, even though it's free, you should definitely donate to keep this place open.
  • Great museum. I took the Air War tour conducted by one of the volunteers. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend it. In the cold war building they have all the famous RAF V bombers and a Short Belfast! The outdoor display is quite impressive as well. It was a quiet weekday so none of them were open, but on busier days several are available for interior tours. I booked in advance on the website. There is no fee for admittance, however there is a 5 pound charge for parking. I paid for parking, the tour and made a donation, 20 pounds total, then I bought the guidebook which was another 5 pounds. The cafe is very nice as well, I had a delicious beef burger there after the tour. Beer is also available.
