Chester Zoo is one of the best places for viewing wildlife in the UK. The 45 hectare (111 acre) site houses more than 11,000 animals. See the greater one-horned rhinoceros on the Asian Plains, elephants in the Asian Forest, and jaguars in one of the world's largest jaguar enclosures. Walk through Butterfly Journey to completely surround yourself with the colorful winged creatures, and enter the Fruit Bat Forest to observe these giant bats. You can sit in on various animal talks throughout the day, and make sure you also spend time in the diverse, award-winning gardens. Choose from six different restaurants and kiosks. If you're traveling with small children, consider renting a buggy to ferry them around the zoo. Use our Chester trip site to add Chester Zoo and other attractions to your Chester vacation plans.

We were going to see Lanterns in the evening and so booked for an afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was really good. Plenty to eat, offers for extras and very enjoyable. The staff were very good...

We visited Chester Zoo just after New Year in 2023 - parking was taking place on a muddy field where numerous cars were getting stuck which was an unfortunate start to our experience. Thankfully we...

I mean whats not to like about a zoo right?!?!? kids loved it, I loved it, was a real fun day. Saw plenty of animals, the best ones for me always has to be the elephants and giraffes. such majestic animals. Was lovely and clean and kept tidy. My only complaint with zoos is the amount of walking you have to do, but again its all part of the experience!!

First visit as an adult, but had the eyes of a child, was amazed by all in particular the free flying butterflies in the butterfly house and walking around the lemurs and interacting with them at a safe distance. There is plenty of animals to see, but not enough time to get around but you can spend all day and still not take in all. Its a must see and will be visiting again to soak in the rest of the zoo, as well get better camera shots. There were plenty of snack outlets as well as food outlets, now it was a busy day but still managed to get a sit down meal. The staff made sure tables were cleaned and left items put away for cleaning. Plenty of choice to eat from your pizza to fish n chips and there is dessert too if you fancy a spot of ice cream. Staff were very polite, courteous and very informative if required more information and made sure guests were ok.
