Create an itinerary including Brunel's SS Great Britain
Discover what it was like to travel aboard the world’s first great ocean liner, Brunel's SS Great Britain, launched in 1843 as the longest and largest vessel of its time. The ship was designed for service between Bristol and New York, and was the first iron steamer to cross the Atlantic. Today, this historic ship serves as a museum and an award-winning tourist attraction, with over 150,000 visitors every year. Stroll the decks, peep inside the luxury cabins of first-class passengers, walk through the busy kitchens, and go beneath the waterline to see the world’s oldest iron hull. Be sure to visit the Dockyard Museum to learn about the ship’s service as luxury liner, emigrant steam clipper, and sailing ship transporting coal to San Francisco. • Wonderful experience. Something for all ages and can’t recommend it highly enough. A great day out - must give yourselves time to see all that is there. Lovely location, easy parking and altogether...

  • I was thoroughly impressed by this attraction! I thought it was going to be a boring tourist trap but the museum is laid out so well. You learn so much about the boat and it's history and it's all presented in an interesting and engaging way. I could have spent longer here to be honest! We barely got a chance to look at the other exhibits on the go. I would definitely come back here again if I were to visit Bristol again
  • The way the ship is set in the dry dock is clever. And the museum leading to the upper deck gives great insights into the history of the vessel. Fascinating to see the world events happening in parallel. Easy parking and great location. Visit highly recommended. Leave plenty of time as there is lots to explore
