City of Magic

A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Castello di Grinzane Cavour and Juventus Museum. Ricetto di Candelo and Santuario Basilica di Montis Regalis will appeal to history buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Castello di Racconigi (in Racconigi), Castello di Verres (in Verres) and Santuario di Oropa (in Oropa). There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Armeria Reale, see the interesting displays at Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, explore the historical opulence of Castello di Issogne, and explore the world behind art at MAO - Museo d'Arte Orientale.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. In April, daily temperatures in Turin can reach 17°C, while at night they dip to 9°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
