A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Langhe landscapes and Chiesa della Maddalena. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Turin: Cattedrale di Asti Santa Maria Assunta (in Asti), Castello di Grinzane Cavour (in Grinzane Cavour) and Alba (Cattedrale di San Lorenzo & Centro Storico).
