Crossroads of Europe

Strasbourg is famous for its beautiful historical center, the Grande Île, which was the first city center classified entirely as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Strasbourg is one of the nine largest cities in France with nearly half a million inhabitants in the metropolitan area crossing the river to the German city of Kehl, on the eastern bank of the Rhine River.
Change things up with these side-trips from Strasbourg: Œuvre de la cathédrale (in Metz), Parc Animalier de Sainte-Croix (in Rhodes) and Place Stanislas (in Nancy). Little Venice

Situated along the Alsatian Wine Route, Colmar is renowned for its German and French culture, well-preserved old town, numerous architectural landmarks, and its museums.
Venture out of the city with trips to La Montagne des Singes (in Kintzheim) and Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg (in Orschwiller). There's still lots to do: stop by Little Venice, take a memorable tour with Tours, steep yourself in history at Koifhus (Old Custom House), and make a trip to Vieille ville d'Eguisheim.

You can drive from Strasbourg to Colmar in an hour. Other options are to take a train; or take a bus. In August in Colmar, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 16°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) so you can drive to Zurich.

The financial hub of Switzerland, Zurich is most often associated with money and banks.
Venture out of the city with trips to Rhine Falls (in Neuhausen am Rheinfall), Mt Pilatus (in Kriens) and Lucerne (Lion Monument, Lake Lucerne, &more).
