The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.Museum-lovers will get to explore Belvedere Palace and Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien. Family-friendly places like Schonbrunn Palace and Hofburg will thrill your kids. There's much more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at St. Stephen's Cathedral, admire the landmark architecture of Secession Building (Secessionsgebaude), head off the coast to Donauinsel, and get to know the resident critters at Schönbrunn Zoo.

Manama, Bahrain to Vienna is an approximately 10-hour flight. The time zone changes from Arabian Standard Time (AST) to Central European Standard Time (CET), which is usually a -2 hour difference. In March, Vienna is colder than Manama - with highs of 12°C and lows of 1°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 13th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Budapest.

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.Shop till you drop at Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria) and Andrassy Avenue. Appreciate the collections at House of Terror Museum and Koller Gallery. Next up on the itinerary: contemplate the long history of Fisherman's Bastion, take in the spiritual surroundings of Dohány Street Synagogue, admire the striking features of Matthias Church, and take a stroll through Vaci Street.

You can drive from Vienna to Budapest in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or take a train. In March, plan for daily highs up to 14°C, and evening lows to 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Sat) to allow time to fly to Prague.
