Turin — 13 nights

City of Magic

A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
For shopping fun, head to Via Roma or FOL Gourmet Popcorn. Visiting Colle del Nivolet and Cascate del Rutor will get you outdoors. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Turin: Cogne (Rifugio Vittorio Sella & Sentieri della Valnontey), Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo (in La Thuile) and Langhe landscapes (in Alba). Spend the 25th (Wed) exploring nature at Parco Regionale del Mont Avic. There's much more to do: don't miss a visit to Chiesa di Santa Maria del Monte dei Cappuccini, take in the spiritual surroundings of Duomo di Torino e Cappella della Sacra Sindone, contemplate the waterfront views at Lago d'Arpy, and relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour.

For ratings, other places to visit, reviews, and more tourist information, go to the Turin trip planner.

If you are flying in from South Africa, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. Expect a daytime high around 24°C in September, and nighttime lows around 17°C. You'll have a few hours on the 2nd (Wed) to wrap things up before traveling home.
