Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Start off your visit on the 3rd (Fri): contemplate the long history of Shoes on the Danube Bank, get a sense of history and politics at Hungarian Parliament Building, then admire the landmark architecture of Matthias Church, and finally contemplate the long history of Fisherman's Bastion. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take in the views from Szechenyi Lanchid, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), then steep yourself in history at Széchenyi Thermal Bath, then contemplate the long history of Heroes' Square, and finally examine the collection at House of Terror Museum.

Well-known for the beautiful views of its famous Promenade des Anglais waterfront, Nice is an ethnically-diverse coastal port city on the French Riviera and the fifth most populated city in France.
Explore Nice's surroundings by going to Cannes (Lérins Islands & Le Suquet), Menton (Visite Confiturerie Herbin & Les Jardins Bioves) and Antibes (Le Sentier du Littoral, Cap d'Antibes & Garoupe Lighthouse (Phare de la Garoupe)). There's still lots to do: take a stroll through Old Town, examine the collection at Musée Marc Chagall, make a trip to Promenade des Anglais, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedrale Saint-Nicolas a Nice.

Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Vienna in February: high temperatures in Nice hover around 55°F and lows are around 43°F.
