Made up of five picturesque towns on the Ligurian coast, Cinque Terre is Italy's answer to the French Riviera.
Take a break from the city and head to Enjoy Cinqueterre Boat Tours and Hike the Punta Manara. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Vernazza and Rattopennugo. Venture out of the city with trips to Levanto to Monterosso Trail (in Levanto) and Sestri Levante (Chiesa di San Niccolo & Baia del Silenzio). Take a train from Cinque Terre to Portofino in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In October in Portofino, expect temperatures between 69°F during the day and 59°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Barolo.

Barolo is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 50km southeast of Turin and about 40km northeast of Cuneo. Start off your visit on the 9th (Sun): learn about winemaking at Agricola Gian Piero Marrone, soar above the sights with a balloon tour, then learn about winemaking at Azienda Agricola Ca Neuva, and finally do a tasting at Cascina Sot.
