Casa Del Rey Moro
Although Casa Del Rey Moro claims to have once been the home of a Moorish king, in reality the house wasn't built until the 18th century, and the "Moorish" garden wasn't installed until 1912. However, the water mine (steps leading to a well) is a relic dating back to the Moorish period. The entry to the well is in the gardens. The steps get slippery and narrow in places, so use caution when descending into the rooms below. When in the well, or the "Room of Secrets," stand against one wall and ask a fellow guest to stand against the opposite wall, then ask another to stand in the center of the room. Whisper a secret message while you are standing against the wall, then listen to the response from the person opposite you. You'll hear each other, but the guest in the center of the room won't hear a thing. Make Casa Del Rey Moro part of your personalized Ronda itinerary using our Ronda trip maker tool.

Beautiful place. Especially the walk to the mine but use something on your hands for the handrail as very dirty and rusty. Shame the house is in ruins! Beautiful house crumbling away! Don't have a...

This is an unusual place that will make you appreciate the history and human ingenuity. It's an extraordinary place that will make you go down the stairs to reach the river. Only for people in a good shape! The gardens are nice and offer good views around the city. It's a shame that the house itself is in ruins and cannot be visited. I wish it had been renovated and reconstituted to its past glory.

The garden views of the gorge are great. But go down the water mine, the views from the bottom were great. Listen to the explanation on your phone with a Site you are given. They allowed our dog in. The House of the Moorish King of Ronda , Spain , is a monumental complex with a long history that begins in the 14th century and reaches up to the 20th century. It is made up of three parts: a water mine from the Muslim period, a neo-Mudejar style house and a garden designed by Jean Claude Nicolas Forestier declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1943.
