Walk Las Murallas de Avila, medieval fortifications that once guarded the city. They completely enclose Ávila, and it’s possible to walk about halfway around. Start by picking up a free audio guide at the entrance for information about the historic enclosure. Climb its towers and enjoy views of the city, mountains, and surrounding countryside. Venture outside the city to get a sense of how foreboding the walls would have been to an outsider. Nine gates allowed access to Ávila; make sure you take a photo of Puerta del Alcázar, the most imposing of these. By using our Avila travel planning app, you can arrange your visit to Las Murallas de Avila and other attractions in Avila.

Amazing walls with a lot of history and a beautiful thing to behold, especially from outside. If you're visiting the inside, you'll get some nice views of the town thought. Highly recommended, however, I'm giving them 4 starts because a big segment of the wall is closed and not maintained, you can see the grass growing on it.

Awesome to see the ramparts and walk the protective walls of the city! There is a fee to walk the wall up top and allow you to take some great photos of the city. The walk back around is not for the faint of heart!
