At the extreme south-east part of Tinian, the area is home to ocean, cliffs, and shrines to those who died here. A very peaceful setting today.

I visited this stunning location on Tinian as part of a WWII history trip with my wife. This spot was both beautiful and somber. A must see stop for WWII history buffs.

Felt absolutely surreal to be standing at the foot of Suicide Cliff in Saipan. Thousands of Korean, Japanese and Chamarro civilians and their families lept to their deaths from this very cliff. The Japanese spread propoganda to the civilians, saying that they would be tortured and used as comfort women if they were captured by the "American Devils" As the Americans slowly captured Saipan, the civilians had nowhere else to go. Some hid in caves while hundreds-thousands jumped to their deaths with the fear of being captured.
