Tinian
Tinian--now home to around 3,000 people--was the site of a ferocious battle between Japanese and Allied forces during World War II. It was eventually captured by the U.S. forces and turned into a large military base. The aircraft that dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki took off from that bomber base. Despite the island's grim history, tourists take a trip to Tinian for a chance to explore several shipwrecks just off the coast and bask in the sun on pristine white-sand beaches. Our Northern Mariana Islands journey planner combines visitor reviews with your personal interests to make an itinerary informed by experts, but tailored to suit your style.
