Create an itinerary including Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein
Discover the history of modern and contemporary art, mainly through sculptures and installations, at Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein. Stand in front of this "black box," and see how its hand-carved surface reflects the surrounding landscape of the Rhine Valley. Enter, and you'll find that inside the black box sits a perfect white cube. Six exhibit rooms are arranged around two diametrically opposed staircases. The collection features abstract, minimal, and conceptual art, Arte Povera, symbolism, futurism, surrealism, the individual mythologies of Joseph Beuys, and much more. The museum collection happens to be the national art collection of the principality of Liechtenstein. • We visited the museum today. Based upon the pictures, we expected some Picasso paintings and more of that quality level. The permanent modern art collection was after all not much more than some...

  • There are different thematic exhibitions, all with interesting works. They give you pamphlets, which give you more insight into the works and the exhibition.

  • The architecture of the museum alone is very unique. The artworks were quite interesting and the museum staff is adorable 🙏🤗💙
  • Not really something for laypeople, definitely more for people who are into modern art. Even keeping that in mind, the exhibition was rather tiny. At the time of my visit, half of it was being rebuilt as well, which you would only know if you ask an employee, it's not really obvious. I can only recommend a visit on Wednesdays, when there's no entry fee. Not worth the price otherwise, especially when half of the (already tiny) exhibition is missing.
