    Went there in mid-December from Viterbo, weather generally pleasant and autumnal in the region in that month, still some leaves on the trees. Getting there by public transport is sort of expedition.....  more

    The site of Norcia is beautiful and remote. You can enjoy relics of significant past: from the Etruscan tombs with amazing facades to the remains of the medieval settlement (castel and church). The natural setting is beautiful: the canyon, the river, the forest and the tufa bedrock. The access is free and open (no personel is there). Only the first part of the site has some fences, for the rest you should pay much attention to holes and other dangers.
