Create an itinerary including Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore
Dedicated to the town's patron saint, Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore mesmerizes visitors with its flower-filled cloister and ornate interior lined with painstakingly restored frescoes. Built in 1123-35, this masterpiece of Romanesque architecture serves as the final resting place of St Zeno, whose masked corpse occupies the transparent sarcophagus beneath the main altar. According to tradition, the brooding crypt was the site of the marriage of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Pay attention to meticulously crafted bronze doors under the rose window and Mantegna's altarpiece depicting Madonna on the throne. • On the outside it looks spectacular and very good. Architecture is also amazing. However it is not free of charge. You must pay 4 Euros to get of which I did not do.

  • Great church. It is not the best in the city though as the other major cathedrals are likely better. Still great church which through its architecture and it’s double floor showcases the evolution of Christianity in Verona. The wooden ceiling is particularly wonderful, would recommend going with daylight.
