Venice Art Mask
Venice Art was founded by Edmond Angoni, a local who lived in Italy, it employs 260 people to manually make 30,000 masks per year using the labour-intensive cartapesta technique, which uses glue-moistened sheets of paper to create the mask structure and relief. Ranging from simple models covering just the eyes, the most extravagant full-face masks are true works of art, incorporating various types of decoration, including painted scenes. The masks are popular at the Venice carnival celebrations, and are exported mainly to Italy, France, Greece, Japan, Canada and the USA. The workshop is also known for providing the masks for Stanley Kubrick's film Eyes Wide Shut. The factory shop can be visited by appointment and has hundreds of different designs at prices well below Venice levels, ranging from €20-150. You can ask to have a quick look at the work-floor too.Use our Venice day trip website to add Venice Art Mask and other attractions to your Venice vacation plans.

We were in need of some ribbon to fix a dress. Amy got us ribbon and was so insanely helpful and kind. She literally saved the day and could not have been more modest about it. While waiting we bought three masks! The quality of them is wonderful. Pictures of the mask I was wearing and of me wearing it with my lovely wives dress that was saved by ribbon from Amy.

100 stars if I could, it was fun talking with Marino about the masks. We spent about $1200 on a large piece which he shipped to us in Seattle. It was packed well and arrived in perfect condition a few weeks later.
