Museo Diocesano, Velletri

Interesting museum from an artistic point of view, there are respectable paintings, by Antoniazzo Romano, Giacomo Francia, Guido Reni, Pietro da Cortona etc ... but I still find it absurd not to be able to take photos, also because there are also scholars who through these they do their research, the photos also serve to promote the place, to attract tourists and thus increase revenues that I know they could use for restoration or expansion of the Museum. It is not true that in diocesan museums it is not possible to take pictures, nor have I shot many throughout Italy and only a couple was banned from me and I promptly notified it! The works of art in museums are not the property of the church but of humanity and it is right to make them known even to those who cannot be in that place. And then hire people with decent contracts, stop relying on unpaid volunteers, because these people are highly qualified, competent but enormously mortified, again because in this country culture is considered a hobby and not a job! In this Shame on you! Anyway my compliments go to the museum volunteer who patiently answered all my questions, thank you for what she does!

Art, be it sacred, is destined for refined stomachs, or - let's put it this way - profane and more digestible to common tastes; but both dishes must be devoured with the eyes, because only from those bulbs begins the banquet which will subsequently nourish, in every sense, the human flavour... and knowledge.
