Create an itinerary including Villa Carlotta
Visit Villa Carlotta, built in 1690, to see a decorated house and botanical garden filled with fine art. Admire views of Lake Como as you wander through the garden among camellias, century-old cedars, a rock garden, rhododendrons, and a bamboo garden. Discover 19th-century sculptures, including pieces by Canova and Thorvaldsen. On the villa's first floor, see Hayez's "The Last Kiss of Romeo and Juliet" painting--one the collection's masterpieces. Princess Marianne of the Netherlands bought this villa for her daughter in the mid-18th century, and the second floor features furniture, pictures, and decorations from that period. The ancient greenhouse is now a cafe. Pick up an audio guides, or ask about guided tours. • A very nice garden to walk around. A lot of stairs, but well worth the visit 👌Especially nice was the little turtle pond at the end of our route, just in front of the Villa 🙌

  • Such a beautiful place. The gardens are well tended and its so peaceful to walk around. Plenty of seats to rest and take in the views. Small cafe good food . Also toilet facilities dotted around. We'll worth a visit. Very reasonably priced
  • The gardens here are amazing! Was not expecting to see such a wide variety of trees and plants. The citrus garden was especially impressive with it's giant lemons. There's two paths, one that takes about 30 min and the other that takes 90 min. We were able to switch from one to the other and back and essentially customize what we saw, although we just went wherever it looked interesting 😅 Great garden, we didn't visit the inside of the villa though.
