The park is excellent. You must make sure that you visit at least 4 of the 5 villages. We missed out on one as time got away from us. We mixed walking with the train and this worked fine. Think ahead.... more

We started from la Spezia train station, unfortunately you can't buy a day ticket at the machine, just online or at the counter. Despite a visit not in the main season it was very busy at the counter. The trains runs often, so despite the masses of people there was plenty of room. The route of the train is through tunnels most of the way son you don't really get much in terms of views. The villages are very scenic but the narrow streets and masses of people make it a bit tricky to move around freely. All in all a good day out but definitely a very touristic destination. I think a tour on a boat would be the best way to capture the best views.

Nothing short of breath-taking! Plan on walking between the quaint towns (bring water and good walking/hiking shoes.) You can walk between three of the five towns, the other two are easily accessible by boat of train. Give yourself plenty of time, there is so to do and see> You will not be disappointed.
