Unfortunately, the museum was closed during our visit. But we learned many interesting things. The roots of the pharmacy within the San Giovanni Evangelista complex date back to 1201. From this period, there are many written sources that prove that the monks began to develop "medicines". At the end of the 15th century, they achieved remarkable achievements and developed many products to relieve many ailments. The tour of the Ancient Pharmacy is accessible from a small door on the west facade of the San Giovanni monastery.

In Parma, from today until Tuesday, there is an international event promoted by the Davines company, which is why some sites and historic homes, normally closed to the public, have been opened. The historic apothecary has experienced alternating phases of opening and closing to the public in recent years, but for some time it had been permanently closed and today exceptionally open. The furnishings have been removed and it seems they have already been restored waiting to find their place again.
