Fragments of ancient mosaics in the crypt of Cattedrale di Parma are evidence of a cult temple that existed before the church was established. The entire church is covered with artwork from the beginning of Italy's artistic golden age. Bertolino de'Grossi, Prospero Clemeti, Girolamo Clemeti, and Luchino Bianchini are just some of the artists who contributed to the architecture. The side chapels were built to shelter the sepulchres of Parma's noble families. Some retain the original decor from the 14th century. The capitals that represent both mythological creatures and Biblical scenes sit next to each other. • I gave it 5 minutes. Unless your are very into catherdral roof drawings, it is highly overrated. But it was free. THe plazza itself is worth hanging out at all day.

  • Do. Ot miss this beautiful cathedral. It look ok from the outside but the inside is magical. The frescoes are beautiful and it is absolutely worth the visit

  • Truly gorgeous cathedral and worth a stop in. Beautiful and wonderfully maintained frescos with stunning colors I haven’t seen very many places in my extensive ventures through Italy. Pay attention to arrive during conventionally open times (May be different than advertised online). Takes 15-30 minutes depending on how quickly you personally move. You can also go into the crypt at no extra charge.
  • A sacred place, rich in history, art and curiosities. You can admire art of different historical periods: from the two famous lions at the entrance (by Bissone), to the beautiful carved door, to the bas-reliefs by Antelami, to the wonderful paintings by Correggio. Highly recommend this nice peace of history!
