Supported by stories of arches, the medieval town hall of Ragione Palace contains one of the largest roofs unsupported by columns in Europe. Finished in 1219, the building contains 333 panels and three tiers of frescoes. The building also contains the Stone of Shame, where debtors were made to stand in their underwear and hit their bottom three times. There's also a wooden horse statue carved by Annibale Capodilista to be used in jousts. After admiring the impressive building and its art, visit several floors of food stalls within, as well as the food markets flanking the building outside. • An extremely weird, and I'd daresay, disproportionate play of romanesque and gothic forms, superimposed onto one another. A perfect example that bigger ain't always better. The three rows of arches...

  • Wonderful 14th century building that was a law court. One of the largest rooms in Europe. Beautiful frescos on all walls. Very impressive.

  • While the hall is big, the wooden horse is huge, the wall paintings about zodiac signs are interesting, that's all about it. If you look closer, the actual wall paintings are no longer original, it was completely destroyed and repainted multiple times in history, the current paintings were done a couple of decades ago, their artistic value simply cannot compete with the original paintings of the past. Another annoyance is the lack of English description in the great hall, all the presentations are in Italian only.
  • Secret Enclosed. I absolutely fell in love with this building. There is so much to see in this giant building. The roof has been rebuilt twice due to disasters. I really liked hunting for the zodiac frescos respresenting my families symbols. Secret revealed, find the sun with the hole in the middle. Once per day the sun lines up perfectly and shines on the ley lines which are marked on the floor. Thank you HEX Crypto for making this possible.
