Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, Monteriggioni

Monteriggioni was once an outpost, existing to provide an early warning system for the defense of Siena from incursions by Florence. Kind of the equivalent of a frontier town in the American Old West. Within the ancient city's walls (which you can still climb atop) are several small streets and old stone facade buildings that have been there a long time. Among these is the Chiesa di Santa Maria, which dates from the 1200s. An afternoon stroll through these preserved and reconstructed relics is like being on a movie set for a film set in the Middle Ages. Only now they sell postcards, gelato and crafts rather than sever limbs. Highly recommend visiting here.

Very nice small fort in tuscany. Mentioned even by Dante Alighieri in his works. And yes it was in game Assassins Creed 2, but it is just completely different there :)
