I'd visited the Uffizi before along with the crowds of a Fall day but this time was very special. When coming to Firenze I had planned to visit every room of the Uffizi this time but what I didn't expect was to have the entire gallery virtually to myself. I arrived before 9 am and took the elevator to the top floor where the "long tour" has it's beginning. I was able to walk through the sculpture gallery then turn into the rooms of paintings then back out to the sculpture gallery, without passing another soul. It wasn't until 10 am or so that a few other folks joined in, but by then I was nearly done with that floor and ready to descend to the next where once again I was alone. Hard to beat that one!

Some good displays. Quite a good activity to fill a day. Good facilities (toilets, cafe). Nice gift shop for souvenirs. Good location, on the banks of river Arno and not too far from a thriving area of the city.
