Pieve di San Paolo a Vendaso, Fivizzano

The parish church of San Paolo is located a short distance from the Borgo di Vendaso, in the municipality of Fivizzano, along the road which, passing through today's Passo dell'Ospedalaccio, headed towards Parma and Reggio. The first testimony of the parish is given by a bull of Pope Eugene III dated 11 November 1148. It has three sandstone apses, while the rest of the structure is made up of white limestone elements. The church, restored after the 1920 earthquake, has capitals inside characterized by phytomorphic elements, concentric circles, plots, animals and enigmatic figures.

With the restoration at the beginning of the last century, the parish returned to its original style. All in all it is very successful.
