Le Due Torri Torre degli Asinell
Witness two iconic landmarks of Bologna dating back to the Middle Ages, Le Due Torri Torre degli Asinell. The 12th-century, leaning towers serve as prominent historical symbols of a city that once boasted more than 100 such structures. Climb the 97 m (318 ft) high Asinelli Tower to see the drastic leaning angle of the Garisenda Tower and to view the city and countryside. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes; the climb to the top is steep and narrow. Super cool spot and really inexpensive for INCREDIBLE views of beautiful Bologna!! Highly recommend! It is 498 stairs and some are pretty steep! Wear good shoes and prepare to be winded. There are several platforms you can stop to rest at but once you get to the top there is a lot of room and incredible views (great photo ops)!!! There are some “holes” in the wall on your way up to see some sneak peeks! Highly recommend. Only 5euro. Buy tickets before!!

Better than Pisa, in my opinion! Less crowds, better story, feels more real. These towers let you really get hands -on and get some fantastic panoramic photos. Arrive at opening for easier access and less crowds. We had a very minimal wait in late November with the tickets we bought on mobile on site, about 20 minutes or so. Cost was very reasonable. This is a pretty intense climb of 500+ stairs. There are platforms where you can rest at intervals. It's roomy as European stair climbs go, though, so less of an issue for anyone with phobias, perhaps. There's a neat little art shop attached, just around the corner, too. It's a great stop after all those stairs!
