Santuario di Santa Maria di Monte Penice, Bobbio

🌺😍 Ancient Catholic Sanctuary of Santa Maria on top of Mount Penice in Romanesque architectural style repeatedly remodeled over the centuries and completely renovated in 2021. It has been dedicated to the Madonna for more than 1350 years for a promise made by the famous Saint of Bobbio, San Colombano who had however named the Sanctuary with the title of a Mother of God. The bell tower built in 1968 is interesting. The nocturnal procession of Marian devotion on August 15th with torches is very famous, starting from Passo Penice up to the summit of the Sanctuary itself. 🌺🌺🌺

Beautiful place at almost 1500 meters above sea level. The church is beautiful and the view is excellent. Today it was 18 degrees with a nice breeze. Easily accessible from the state road.
