The parish church of San Clemente is only partially the result of the work of Alessandro Antonelli (1798 - 1888). In fact, neither the central nave of 1595 nor the seventeenth-century Baroque facade were modified: the architect from Ghemm took care of designing the two side naves and creating the large cross vault surmounted by the dome, which gives the building the typical solemn Antonelli style. The renovations were carried out between 1837 and 1844. Antonelli, as usual, would have liked to add many other new architectural elements to the church, but for once it was a good thing that he could not: the fusion between Baroque and San Clemente is quite rare, making the place an interesting example of a stylistic hybrid.
