  • Worth a visit if you're in the area. A charming church in a tiny and beautiful town that also boasts a delicious osteria (Antica Quercia).

  • This church, a few Kms from Barberino, is venerable both for its antiquity and for art features. The church is well preserved; it shows a clear difference between the left side, which is the oldest...

  • Along the narrow ridge road that forms the orographic right bank of the Val d'Elsa, at the apex of a hill and half-hidden by an ancient and steep brick staircase, the parish church of Sant'Appiano still appears, illuminated by the sun of a clear winter afternoon. It is protected and set in its small village, with its simple and clean facade, embellished by the remains of the four columns in front, which give it a particular charm and an aura of mystery, the same almost forgotten among the memories of children, with the pleasant sensations received in touching those ancient stones, warmed by the sun, during a short Sunday trip.
  • The complex structure of the parish church of Sant'Appiano is the best testimony of the considerable importance assumed by the church. The church, the remains of the baptistery, the rectory and the fortified structures of the settlement are part of the pleban complex. The parish church has a three-nave plan with a wooden roof and shows the overlapping of many construction phases over time. The original part is recognizable in the arrangement of the spaces and in the left part of the nave; the interventions carried out after the earthquake of 1171 concerned the right side while in the fifteenth century they worked mainly on the facade and in the left aisle
