Create an itinerary including Cattedrale di San Rufino
A visit to Cattedrale di San Rufino will have you at the doors of one of the most important churches in the history of the Franciscan order. It is also famous for being the church in which Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Clare, and many of their disciples were baptized. The cathedral originated in the 12th century, after the bishop of Assisi had a miraculous vision. The Romanesque facade is a typical example of 12th-century Umbrian churches, and is divided into three levels featuring highly decorative friezes. Visit the famous font inside, and at the same time take a look at the underground crypt, which houses a Roman sarcophagus from the third century. • The Authentic fassade is unique, but when entering I was firstly disappointed. But please go in , the crypte is great, the museum very well done, really a hidden jewel. You can combine the ticket with climbing on the tower, which gives an impressive view of town and the valley, 360 degrees. The church is not too crowded and worth a visit.
  • Beautiful Cathedral and an important stop in following the footsteps of St. Francis. He and St. Clare were baptized here. This is also the church where Francis denounced his father's wealth.
