Abbazia di Sant'Urbano, Apiro

From the views, to the staff, to the abbey, to the food this was a fantastic experience! We checked in and even with a slight language barrier, we were treated warmly by the people who run it. The meal... just amazing. We had the gnocchi con formaggio di fossa, a chicken dish that had a smooth buttery sauce with rosemary, apple pie with vanilla gelato... the chef even sent us a roast pork that was truly a great dish on its own. The rooms felt cozy and authentic, the beds were perfection, the abbey cat even gave us a visit! The next morning we explored the surroundings. Take some time in the abbey, it's not just beautiful but felt very spiritual and awe inspiring. This felt like we weren't tourists, but really got something from the experience of just being in Italy. I loved it!
