The Château du Giersberg is one of three castles which overlook the commune of Ribeauvillé in the Haut-Rhin département of France. It stands at an altitude of 528 m.The Lords of Ribeaupierre built the castle, then named Stein, in the 13th century. They rebuilt it after a fire caused by lightning in 1288. It was abandoned in the 17th century. The remains currently visible date from several epochs: 13th century : pentagonal keep 14th century : inner court 15th century : corps de logis It has been listed since 1841 as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.BibliographyBraun, Jean : Circuit des châteaux forts d'Alsace - Ingersheim : éd. • This is one of 3 castles on the mountain. They are all connected so you can visit them all. The views are spectactular. If you're afraid of heidts, not recommended!

  • Ohhhh, I loved this castle. I was so amazed not only at the view but about all the effort these knights had to build this castle along the mountain top. Of course I had to take a break to connect with their spirits with my pendulum and an alphabet dowsing chart. The message really touched me! "BONJOUR MADAME, WE ARE KNIGHTS OF CHÂTEAU GIERSBERG. THANK YOU FOR APPRECIATING OUR WORK IN BUILDING THIS CHÂTEAU AND YOUR ENERGY HEALING." I had felt on the way up to the château the folded fan in my hand was swinging in circles. I took it as an invitation to send healing to all the knights who have been connected with these châteaux. I got inspired to make a crystal grid for all these knights who were connected to these châteaux in the region 💫🔮🏰
  • Beautiful Castle Ruines and a majestic view over Ribeauville and neighbouring villages. Definitely worth the hike up.
