Founded in 1760 by magistrate François Delamotte, Champagne Lanson is a purveyor of champagne to the British Royal Family, which displays the coat of arms of Elizabeth II on its bottles. The estate does not own vineyards; they purchase grapes from 110 communes and produce approximately 1,300,000 bottles annually.
The company is well known for the educational and informational quality of their tours. You will learn about the entire process and see the actual processing plant used in the production of their wines and champagnes. Although they don't grow their own grapes for their production, they have a small vineyard right on their property in town that you can tour. Your tour concludes with a tasting of three champagne varieties and a visit to the storehouse where you can purchase products that you enjoyed from your tasting. Tours by appointment. Absolutely fantastic experience, by far the best champagne tour to go on. Celine our host was wonderful, she was genuine and informative. It didn’t feel commercialised like the other big champagne houses. Small tour group, allowing us to see all aspects of champagne making. The tasting was lovely too, we sat in a bar area chatting with the others and Celine did not rush us out. Thank you Lanson for making us feel special. Celine you are magnificent! With love from Priyanka x
I would like to say that the excursion was boring. The champagne is very good however! And the cellar space is not very entertaining after I visited other cellars in Reims. That’s why if you have choice I suggest to discover the offers of the market before deciding to which cellar to go . Nice terrace and nice champagne 🍾
