Parc de la Tete d'Or is 117 hectares (290 acres) of urban outdoor fun. The locals love it for jogging and cycling, while you’ll love it for boating, the zoo, and mini-golf. Construction of this city oasis began in 1812 and continues to the present day. The city adds exhibits every few years, such as an African Safari addition to the zoo in 2010. Although the park takes its name for a legendary treasure that may have been buried on its grounds, you’ll find that the real treasure isn't gold or diamonds but the serenity of the park’s environs. • This is a gorgeous park, with a free zoo and tropical green house. It is a big park. We saw it as part of the electric bike Lyon tour.

  • Maybe the most beautiful city park I have ever seen. There are a large variety of spaces for people to just stop and enjoy. If you stop in a quiet place and look up, you might see some squirrels in the trees. It's also great for walkers and runners. Dogs are allowed (except in the zoo part, but we saw some anyway) and it's a great place for them, with big green parts to run and play. The zoo part of the park is really cool: the entrance is free, the animals are well-cared and their spaces are large and complex enough for them to live in it. We only saw one animal that seemed very stressed, but it was probably because of some visitors that weren't respecting the calm attitude the zoo ask to have near the animals. Also, the zoo makes an effort to be transparent about the way it functions and the choices it makes.
  • Awesome park that has a mix of things inside it including a zoo and botanical garden, and best it's all free. Quite a large foot print and one of the more memorable central city parks I've been to anywhere Worth a visit
