No visit to the Alsace region is complete without a journey along the unforgettable Alsace wine route. Alsace or Alsatian wine is produced in the Alsace region of France and is primarily a white wine. Due in part to its Germanic influence, it is the only Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée region in France to produce mostly varietally labelled wines, typically from similar grape varieties to those used in German wine. This region also produces some of the world’s most beloved dry Rieslings and is also home to the highly aromatic Gewürztraminer wines. Both the geography and the fruits of mother nature will have you bewitched. With the beautiful Vosges Mountains to the west and the Rhine river to the east, the vineyards nestled between provide the perfect balance between temperature, drainage, and sun exposure. Westerly winds in contrast with the shelter from the Vosges Mountains are all responsible for producing some of the best wine in the world.
