The Hirschsprung Collection (Den Hirschsprungske Samling)
Experience the history of Danish art at one of Copenhagen's "Park Museums," The Hirschsprung Collection (Den Hirschsprungske Samling). The museum is based mostly around the personal art collection of Heinrich Hirschsprung, who donated his collection to Denmark in 1902. Most of the art comes from the 19th and 20th centuries, with famous works by Kobke, Kroyer, and Eckersberg. You'll progress through the Danish art periods, from the Golden Age to the Modern Breakthrough. The collection is housed in a small neoclassical building, which adds to the museum's atmosphere. Visit the website to check current exhibits and pubilc transit routes to the museum. A visit to The Hirschsprung Collection (Den Hirschsprungske Samling) represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Copenhagen online route builder to plot your vacation.

This collection was excellent. Many works that are very powerful. Special exhibition of the work of Bertha Wegmann introduced me to a phenomenal artist I had never experienced.

Unfortunately we didn't have time to go in and see the exhibits and only visited the shop to see if they had any Kroner posters. They didn't and the shop was very small. But will definitely do a proper visit next time we're in Copenhagen
