A surreal landscape awaits at Kubu Island, a dry granite rock outcrop located in the largest salt pan complex in the world. Up to 1.25 m (4 ft) high, the dry stone wall with 24 loopholes related to the great Zimbabwe ruins. Look for hundreds of circular ritual stone cairns. This area is also an important prehistoric excavation spot for ancient pottery sheds and ostrich eggshell beads. Drive through and see endemic baobab trees. It is considered a sacred site, so ancient taboos on hunting and rock collecting are prohibited.     I'm just absolutely gobsmacked that this place has such high reviews. People go to Botswana to see wildlife and they usually have to drive pretty far to the campsites, This drive took it to all new....  more

    We visited 25 years ago and were amazed again about the beauty of this utterly remote place. It is surely worth a visit once in a lifetime. Very sad that elephants have damaged some of the ancient...
