More than a popular meeting spot in Melbourne, Federation Square serves as an entertainment destination in the heart of the city. Encompassing a city block, this plaza contains bars, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, and plenty of shops. You can rent a bike here and ride around the city, or depart on a boat cruise from the nearby dock. Check out The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, holder of the world's biggest collection of Australian art. Of architectural note are the scalene-triangle sandstone building facades and ochre-colored sandstone blocks in the main square's paving. • Bit average honestly. There was people setting up for a new festival, but other than that I couldn’t see much else happening. I could see restaurants around the place but couldn’t see much signage...

  • Great outdoor space for catching up with friends and family. They also host a range of international festivals. Fed Square is just across the road from Flinders Street Station. There are a few toilets at Federation Square. The most convenient one is the one next to 7-11.
  • Great place to visit when wanting to go for a nice walk and enjoy the weather. The set up is quite nice, they have placed loungers around the area for people to just relax and and appreciate the surroundings. However, There could’ve been more chairs for people. Lovely area to take the kids to have a little run around or take a stroll along the Yara River.
