Experience Hawaiian nature at its peak at Waimea Valley, a huge area filled with a historical park including botanical gardens, waterfalls, and swimming holes. The area was once used to cultivate crops and orchards, including taro, sweet potato, and bananas. Today, the park boasts more than 5,000 plants from around the world, along with individual gardens dedicated to Guam, Madagascar, the Seychelles, and more. Swimming is allowed when cliff-diving exhibitions are not in process, or catch one of the hula performances. Waimea Valley Reviews
If you’re looking for a nature walk this is a perfect place. I took my family here for a stroll at the botanical, something different from hiking. It is family friendly, so all ages is welcome... more »
I loved this place, serine, tranquil, beautiful, and peaceful. Really great hiking, views, and a fantastic waterfall at the end! more »
Such a beautiful place to visit. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the North Shore! Entry is $14 for concession and $18 for adults. A bit pricey but was such an amazing view so 100% worth it! You are able to go swimming in the waterfall free of charge but you have to wear a life jacket. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the entry to the waterfall if you don't stop at the cultural stops they have.
The self guided tour was very easy so no need for audio. Facility is clean and very well maintained. I got a real feel of the culture. The guy who make the weapons by hand had the greatest stories and was funny. The waterfall was amazing and well worth the hike. Close second were the two ladies singing Hawaiian songs. They were really good!
