A historical gem in the heart of Tuscany, San Gimignano is known as the Town of Fine Towers for its jutting skyline of high city walls.
Start off your visit on the 18th (Wed): learn about winemaking at Cappella Sant'Andrea, learn about winemaking at Agricola Tamburini Emanuela, then learn about winemaking at Corbucci, then learn about winemaking at Azienda Agricola San Quirico, and finally take in panoramic vistas at Rocca of Montestaffoli. You can drive from San Gimignano to Siena in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of bus and train. In September, daytime highs in Siena are 32°C, while nighttime lows are 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Sat) to allow enough time to take a bus to Florence.

Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Get a sense of the local culture at Gallerie Degli Uffizi and Piazzale Michelangelo. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Centro Storico and Basilica San Miniato al Monte. Step out of Florence with an excursion to Canyon Park in Bagni di Lucca--about 1h 20 min away. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, see the interesting displays at Academy Of Florence Art Gallery, snap pictures at Ponte Vecchio, and explore the world behind art at Pitti Palace.

Getting from Siena to Florence by bus takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a train. In September, plan for daily highs up to 30°C, and evening lows to 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
