Known to some as Moldova's "breakaway state," Transnistria can feel like a completely separate country.
The Christmas Cathedral and Transfiguration Cathedral are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Manastirea Curchi and Bendery Fortress. Venture out of the city with trips to Bender (The Memorial of Military Glory, Tighina Military Cemetery, & more), Rezina (Saharna Monastery & Hanul Lui Hanganu) and Old Orhei Archeological Complex (in Trebujeni). And it doesn't end there: see the interesting displays at Military Museum, make a trip to Tirasapol, savor the flavors at Kvint, and appreciate the history behind The Suvorov Monument.

If you are flying in from Greece, the closest major airports are Chişinău International Airport and Balti International Airport. In March, daily temperatures in Transnistria can reach 11°C, while at night they dip to 0°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
