A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Sentiero panoramico lungo l'Orrido di Pre-Saint-Didier and Saussurea Alpine Botanical Garden. Explore Turin's surroundings by going to Castello di Verres (in Verres), Castel Savoia (in Gressoney Saint Jean) and Castello di Issogne (in Issogne). There's still lots to do: snap pictures at The Roman Aqueduct-Bridge of Pont d'Ael, see the interesting displays at Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile, explore the historical opulence of Castello di Grinzane Cavour, and make a trip to Basilica of Superga.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. In August, plan for daily highs up to 28°C, and evening lows to 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
