City of Magic
A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.Reggia di Venaria Reale and Sacra di San Michele will appeal to history buffs. Do some cultural sightseeing at Museo Egizio and Museo Nazionale del Cinema. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Turin: Serravalle Designer Outlet (in Serravalle Scrivia), Castello di Fenis (in Fenis) and River Rafting & Tubing (in Morgex). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile, view the masterpieces at Galleria Sabauda, admire the landmark architecture of Palazzo Reale, and contemplate the long history of Basilica of Superga.
To find where to stay, reviews, other places to visit, and more tourist information, go to the Turin driving holiday planner.
If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. In July, plan for daily highs up to 30°C, and evening lows to 21°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 22nd (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
