Rome of the Alps

In the Aosta Valley bordering Switzerland and France, the medieval city of Aosta is famous for its prime skiing conditions and rich cultural history.
Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso has been added to your itinerary. Venture out of the city with trips to Lillaz Waterfalls (in Cogne), Forte di Bard (in Bard) and Palazzo Borromeo (in Isola Bella). The adventure continues: delve into the distant past at Teatro Romano, pause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa Paleocristiana di San Lorenzo, explore the historical opulence of Castello Reale di Sarre, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Collegiata dei Santi Pietro e Orso.

For photos, other places to visit, reviews, and more tourist information, read Aosta trip planner.

Rome to Aosta is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and bus; or drive. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive back home.
