A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Juventus Museum and Museum of the Risorgimento. Castello Reale di Sarre and Criptoportico Forense are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Turin side-trips: Castello di Grinzane Cavour (in Grinzane Cavour), Aosta (Collegiata dei Santi Pietro e Orso & Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso) and Santuario Basilica di Montis Regalis (in Vicoforte). There's much more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Rifugio Vittorio Sella, get engrossed in the history at Armeria Reale, step into the grandiose world of Castello di Issogne, and pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di Maria Ausiliatrice.
