City of Magic

A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
Museo Egizio and Duomo di Torino e Cappella della Sacra Sindone are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi and Sacra di San Michele will appeal to history buffs. Explore Turin's surroundings by going to Reggia di Venaria Reale (in Venaria Reale), Forte di Bard (in Bard) and Castello di Verres (in Verres). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile, don't miss a visit to Piazza Castello, explore the historical opulence of Castello di Grinzane Cavour, and contemplate the long history of Palazzo Reale.

For maps, more things to do, photos, and more tourist information, you can read our Turin day trip planner.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. Expect a daytime high around 24°C in September, and nighttime lows around 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Sun) to allow time to travel back home.
