Rome of the Alps

In the Aosta Valley bordering Switzerland and France, the medieval city of Aosta is famous for its prime skiing conditions and rich cultural history.
Visit Teatro Romano and Castello di Fenis for their historical value. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Criptoportico Forense and Lake Orta. Explore Aosta's surroundings by going to Castello di Verres (in Verres), Cervino Breuil-Cervinia Ski Area (in Breuil-Cervinia) and Sacra di San Michele (in Sant'Ambrogio di Torino). There's much more to do: take in the dramatic scenery at Lillaz Waterfalls, take in the exciting artwork at Reggia di Venaria Reale, and step into the grandiose world of Castello di Issogne.

To see where to stay, photos, other places to visit, and more tourist information, you can read our Aosta itinerary planner.

Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
